A rather jolly and folkish track, once again an unabashed Heep derivative. One could say it's loosely a tribute to Carl Sagan and his 'glorious dawn', and the lyrics are indeed inspired by a news entry about how northern lights sometimes produce a chirping sound in the upper atmosphere, which scientists call a "dawn choir". Anyway, you need tracks like these even on a heavy rock album for the dynamics.
lyrics
There's a light at the end of the night
that is calling upon everyone around
Day is newly born in the mist of the morn
Tune in to the choir of the sky at dawn
It is singing to you through the days you've worn
So the history's through, it's all yesterday's news
With the turning of the page we're set to love
Such a waste of fate to persist with hate
I have already forgotten what I dreamed
Former bad dreams not as real as they have seemed
Don't let the choir down, it sings for you
May seem like yesterday but that was then and this is now
But the morning dew which is gleaming anew
won't rearrange the deeds of idle hands
So you're meaning well with your urging spell
Singing mercilessly with a crooked smile
Won't you sit beside me, listen for a while?
Don't let the choir down, it sings for you and me
May seem like yesterday but that was then and this is now
